RedStone Animal Hospital 's Pawspice Program
What is Pawspice? It is Hospice care for your aging or ill pet.
Our hospital staff recognizes the difficulty our clients often have dealing with the late stages of life of their older or ill pets. Our Pawspice Care Program can help make this time of your life easier for both you and your pet. We encourage giving your pet more care rather than less care at the end of the life cycle. We want you and your pet to experience more good quality time together during this special time of life.
Our staff can give guidance on changing nutritional needs, providing a stable and consistent anvironment while still providing mental stimulation, and outpatient care. This may be a time to reassess medication needs and pain management. Adjustments may need to be made in bedding and ease of access to food, water, and litter.
We can help your family members deal with feelings of loss, sense of duty, and remorse as your pet encounters the problems of age and illness. We want to give you the tools to make decisions during the anticipatory grief period, rather than at a time of crisis. If you have questions about the euthanasia process and choices for body care, we have answers. We can talk about the effects of a death on children and other pets in the family.
Finally, we can provide resources for grief counseling.
