In 2001 Dr. Hailey began on a journey of adding laparosocpy to his practice. At that time, no one was performing laparosocpic surgery in a general practice setting. Laparosocpy requires an access hole, or a port into the abdomen for the camera and instrumentation. Traditional laparosocpy utilizes anywhere from 3-4 access ports. Dr. Hailey, along with Dr.'s Chad Devit and Ray Cox, developed the first 2 port laparoscopic spay which was demonstrated to be anywhere from 50-65% less painful than a traditional open procedure (JAVMA sept. 15, 2005).
