Travis

Travis's work history is in corporate environments, specifically telecom.  He is married to our DVM owner, Laura Downie, and when Dr Downie's practice manager moved to Texas in 2021 - she was worried that she would have to sell her practice to a corporation as she was unable to find the right practice manager.  Travis had become disgruntled with the corporate world, and they decided that Travis would retire from his corporate job of 20+ years and join Dr Downie at Redstone.  He brings his many years of experience with inventory management, budgeting and HR and keeps our practice running behind the scenes.  He has been pleasantly surprised by how much he likes the veterinary workplace.  Obviously, he loves the patients (his favorite are chocolate labs) but he also appreciates the empathetic type of person that is attracted to work in the veterinary field.  Running a small business in a sea of corporate practices has been challenging, but overall- he loves his new career path and find satisfaction in knowing that Dr Downie was able to keep her small practice from going corporate.  Currently, Dr Downie and Travis are engulfed in planning to expand the buildings on their property in order to offer their clients and patients new services.  In his free time, you can find him on the tennis court or golf course!
